On October 13-14, students from the Saline County Career Center traveled with their advisor, Kerry Henley, to the Missouri DECA Fall Leadership Conference in St. Louis, Missouri. The conference provided students with an opportunity to participate in leadership and educational workshops, practice for competitive events, and learn skills to develop their leadership potential. Avery Evans, the Missouri State Vice President of Membership and a member of the Missouri State Action Team, presented a workshop called, “What’s your Pitch?" and helped with the opening and closing sessions. During the conference, district vice president elections took place for all 12 Missouri DECA districts. District 4, which the Saline County Career DECA Chapter is a part of, had three candidates vying for the position. Michelle Lin, the SCCC DECA President, ran for District Vice President for district 4 against two other candidates and won her campaign. She will now represent Missouri DECA District #4 at district, state, and international conferences and help the district achieve its goals for the year. This is her second term as DVP. The Saline County Career Center is proud of its DECA members and their commitment to leadership development. We are confident that they will continue to achieve great things in the future. DECA is an international association of high school students studying marketing, finance, hospitality and management. The state affiliate of the DECA Inc. organization is the Career and Technical Student Organization for Missouri. Missouri DECA is a nationally recognized association with over 7000 members. There are 12 DECA districts and 153 DECA chapters in Missouri.
